-
Sell yourself
The primary tip we generally give to clients is to actually hype your services up using your content and your website. Take your bog-standard copy that you have on your site and make it sound as if it’s the best thing that your client could invest in.
You are the experts in your field, people are looking for your services, so don’t let them down when they get to your website: Use your website to sell your services for you by talking the talk AND walking the walk.
-
Make it easy
When users get to your site there is nothing worse than putting them off by confusing them with how to navigate your website. If your website is there purely as a way of letting potential clients contact you, then making it easier for them to contact you is necessary to your success.
Make your website easy to navigate, easy to use and accessible. This will give your potential clients no reason to not be interested in your services!

META Tags
As day-to-day SEO’s we always hear conflicting technical “advice”. One such piece of advice is that <meta> keywords are no longer relevant when it comes to Google & Yahoo! Yes, this is correct, but what a lot of SEO firms do not understand, and fail to accept, is that the smaller Search Engine’s actually rely on the META data, and Google picks up these smaller Search Engine’s as authorities. This makes your company live up to the message you are shouting about (if you followed points 1 & 2).
Ensure that your Meta Keyword, Meta Description and <title> contain keywords and key phrase’s relevant to your product. Make sure these keywords and key phrases tie in with your content on your page, as documented in the next step.
-
Optimised Copy
If you followed Tip 1 then you have already made your site sell itself to your clients. What we suggest to our SEO clients is that you now need to get keywords and key phrases into your copy. This will make it relevant to the search engines in describing what your website is about. This will increase your search engine rankings when tied in with step 5.
Be careful how you add the text in – If you repeat the keywords too much, then you might actually get penalised.
-
Inbound Links
The key to any websites success is achieving good quality inbound links.
By inbound links we mean people linking to your website. Gathering these links can be as simple as ringing other companies in your field and asking to exchange links (you link to them if they link to you). You can also use other methods such as article releases, social web sites and industry directories.
We hope that these tips have given you some inspiration.
