Mediaworks’ SEO breakfast goes down a treat

It is often said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you have a website, you are sure to have heard that a sound knowledge of SEO is vital too. Mediaworks recently looked to combine the two with a free SEO breakfast event.

Titled Success in Search, the event was held at the Jurys Inn in Gateshead on June 10th. Before we started discussing the technical stuff, we made sure our guests were ready to start the day, providing tasty bacon sandwiches, pastries and, of course, coffee!

Our very own Event Manager, Jayne Walsh, and Business Development Manager, James McElrue, were then on hand to share their expertise on everything from how SEO has changed since the introduction of Google Panda and Google Penguin, to tips for devising a bulletproof content marketing plan.

The presentation began with a snapshot of our company, which showcased a few of the well-known clients we work with. Following this introduction, James demonstrated our extensive industry knowledge, answering such questions as:

  • How many English queries have been affected by Google Panda 4.0?
  • Just how damaging was Google Panda 4.0 to eBay? This was one of the main stories to emerge from the algorithm update.
  • Why is keyword selection important from a SEO perspective?
  • Is the future of link building bleak? Google’s Matt Cutts has made this a constant topic of conversation since producing that much debated blog post.
  • Why should I be interested in content marketing strategies?

Why should I attend events like the SEO breakfast?

Stephen Farrell, the Digital Marketing Executive of the PC Marketing department at Akzo Nobel, was one attendee who was pleased with how our event was structured and believes there was a lot to take away from it.

He said: “James delivered a very informative seminar on how you can make a success of SEO for your business. Whether you were a newbie or someone with a decent foundation of knowledge, you would have come away from the seminar with something useful. I’m looking forward to attending more seminars around the future of SEO, and what to expect from Google going forward.”

We had plenty of other esteemed visitors to cater for too, including representatives from PD Ports, Newcastle College, Press Ahead and Visit County Durham.

Speaking about how the morning went, Jayne said: “The event was a great success; we had a brilliant turn out and received some extremely positive feedback.”
