Mediaworks slide across the Tyne in aid of Macmillan
The first-ever Mediaworks Family Fun Day has come and gone, with our staff and their family and friends this year being given the opportunity to zip slide off the Tyne Bridge all in the aid of charity.
In total, we managed to get 75 people safely across the Tyne throughout the afternoon of Sunday August 11th – come rain or shine – in an attempt to raise as much money for Macmillan Cancer Support as possible.
A big thank you has to go out to ZipslidesUK and their representative Ian Weeks, who helped to make this thrilling and successful event a reality.
Of course, everyone who held their breath and took a leap of faith to get from the Tyne Bridge, across the Tyne and onto a landing platform pitched along the Gateshead Quayside deserve a big pat on the back too.
Although we will not be able to get an accurate figure of how much we raised from the event – individual sponsorship forms do not need to be collected until Wednesday August 21st – we can confirm that we are well on track to smash our initial fundraising target of £3,000.
For those who didn’t run into us at Mediaworks HQ ahead of the slide and would like to make a contribution, there’s still time for you to donate via the Mediaworks Just Giving page, with every penny of your donation supporting the amazing work provided by care and support teams at Macmillan.
A number of staff here at Mediaworks have been affected by cancer, with some also losing loved ones following a diagnosis. Macmillan is therefore a charity that is close to our hearts and we appreciate the work they carry out to not only help patients, but also assist friends and family coping with their loss.
Thanks for the support!
