Mediaworks lights up St James’ Park
Last week, a group of lucky football-loving Mediawork-ers were given the opportunity to play the beautiful game at St James’ Park; the home of Newcastle United FC and the place where some of our North East heroes honed their skills.
On Tuesday 24 May, the home of the magpies played host to a friendly 11-a-side match which saw a mixture of Mediaworkers, members of our partners Cargo Creative and Redwood Cable Projects and representatives from our clients up against North East, IT Solutions company Perfect Image.
Ahead of the game, both teams were given the opportunity to make full use of St James’ Park’s changing rooms and then carry out a full warm up on the pitch – Leazes Stand makes for a particularly intimidating sight when you’re standing in front of it on the pitch!
Following a pre-match pep talk from our Managing Director, Brett Jacobson, both teams were led out onto the pitch, while the familiar music of Mark Knopfler blared out of the stadium’s speakers.
Although the game itself didn’t go as Mediaworks had planned, we were on the receiving end of a 6-0 thrashing, the opportunity to play an hour of football inside one of the UK’s most iconic stadiums, complete with referee and linesmen, was a truly memorable experience for all involved, proving once again, how working for Mediaworks is not just your normal 9am ’til 5pm.
