The Big Sleuth trail app launches at number 3 in App Store
Mediaworks’ latest app development project has launched to great success, charting at number 3 on the App Store.
The app has been created in support of The Big Sleuth, a mass-participation art event taking place in Birmingham in support of Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity. As part of the trail, a huge group of Sun Bear sculptures designed by local artists, businesses, charities, schools and community groups have descended on the city.
The app has been created to increase engagement with the trail, as users can find and unlock bears, track their trail progress and upload their photos to the community gallery. Users can set themselves specific challenges, whether it’s finding all of the bears in 24 hours or tracking your steps with the in-app pedometer.
Priced at £1.99, each app download will see all net proceeds donated to Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, a very worthy cause. The apps early success and current position in the download charts is great news for the charity.
Mediaworks was selected to work on the project following the success of the Snowdog trail app we created for St Oswald’s Hospice’s Great North Snowdogs art trail. The app experienced incredible success, charting higher than Microsoft’s Minecraft in the App Store and was downloaded over 11,000 times over the course of the trail.
Mediaworks’ Creative Director Andrew Blenkinsopp commented of the trail: “As previous trails have exemplified, mass-participation events like The Big Sleuth are a great way to celebrate a particular region and raise vital funds and awareness for worthy causes. We are incredibly proud to have created the app to support this event and hope to continue our work with Wild In Art in the future.”
