Mediaworks Named in North East Best Places to Work 2019

The Chronicle and Journal’s Top 50 companies to work for in the North East has just been released and Mediaworks has been ranked 18th!

The award, which also recognised Mediaworks last year, factors in staff development, health support, company benefits, and work within the community.

Mediaworks’ development over the past 12 months has involved improving all aspects of the business, but what have we put in place so far to create a better environment for our staff to work in?

Staff Development

Our commitment to employee progression and skills development means we offer regular reviews and appraisals. Additionally, we run training sessions to ensure we’re on top of any emerging trends within the industry.

We recently rolled out an internally-developed mobile app which provides Mediaworks employees visibility over their own development.

Health Support

While our entire team is committed to what we do, we understand the importance of maintaining a good work-life balance. We have put a number of processes in place to achieve this, including a cycle to work scheme, additional holiday options, team activities such as rock climbing, and awareness talks around mental and physical health.

Community Involvement

We’re always working on projects with local schools, colleges and universities. We support the growth of the North East’s talent pool by running regular masterclasses and digital breakfast events.

Company Benefits

We’ve got a range of company benefits that can be found here, but some of our most recent perks include new employee welcome packs, free breakfasts, and quarterly KPI bonuses.

Head of People and Culture, Jayne Parsley-Walsh, now oversees the cultural side of Mediaworks. This entails support on recruitment, staff engagement, and making Mediaworks one of the best places to work in the North East.

Operations Director, Gary Smith, sees Mediaworks positioning in the Best Places to Work as a measure of successful change: “Mediaworks is constantly growing and evolving. The influence of culture has taken Mediaworks to a new level and the proof is in both the recognition we’ve received here and our employee engagement”.

It’s not just the Best Places to Work that we’re receiving amazing feedback on what we are doing. Why not check out our Glassdoor reviews page and see what our employees are saying about us? Here are some of our most recent favourites:
