Macmillan Coffee Morning adds to MW fundraising pot (and waistlines)

Fresh from our adventures zipsliding across the Tyne, the MW team have kept up the fundraising momentum by eating our way to another £80 raised for Macmillan Cancer at our own Macmillan Coffee Morning.

Macmillan is Mediaworks’ chosen charity this year and so far we’ve jumped, cross-dressed and munched our way into fundraising £5840 to date.

The latest bout of fundraising was fuelled not by adrenaline, but by copious amounts of delicious cakes, cupcakes, brownies, biscuits and pie, which were washed down with cups of tea and coffee at our very first Mediaworks Macmillan Coffee Morning, held at Mediaworks HQ in Team Valley on Friday 27th September.

For those who aren’t familiar with the Macmillan Coffee Morning concept – which began in 1990 – the idea is that people simultaneously sup on coffee and tea and pay a fee for the accompanying baked goods on an agreed date; the money raised is then passed on to Macmillan.

Bringing their creative A-game to baking for the event, the Mediaworks crew rustled up treats ranging from the traditional lemon drizzle cake and flapjacks through to salted caramel brownie and crack pie, all of which went down a treat at our Friday elevenses.

Last year, Macmillian’s Coffee Morning raised a record £15 million for the charity and we’re exceptionally proud that our extraordinary culinary skills – and appetites – will hopefully help them on their way to smashing the record this year.
