Mediaworks’ Hannah Mattinson shortlisted for Women In Search initiative

Mediaworks couldn’t be prouder to announce that our very own Head of PPC, Hannah Mattinson, has made the shortlist of the inaugural Women In Search initiative.

The campaign has been set up by Google in association with The Drum and aims to recognise women who are making their presence felt across the search marketing industry.

Hannah more than fits the bill. Since graduating with a Marketing Management degree from Northumbria University, she has consistently expanded her knowledge of the search marketing sector.

Making her way to Mediaworks in November 2012, having spent 18 months at a design agency, Hannah has enjoyed plenty of success in both our copy and paid search teams. Now our Head of PPC, she has taken to management with ease and used her ever-expanding knowledge of the industry to help both her team and Mediaworks excel.

This was illustrated at the Northern Digital Awards in January, when Mediaworks took home the awards for both Best PPC Campaign, in recognition of our work with Newcastle College, and Large Agency of the Year.

Commenting on her Women in Search nomination, Hannah said: “In order for the digital marketing industry to function as a whole, a merry blend of creative, analytical and technical skills are required.

“Traditionally, it was always men who filled the latter two job roles, with creative positions appealing more to women. However, this stigma still sticks within the industry and old perceptions of gender have become the standard. It’s great to see influential organisations like The Drum and Google supporting women in the search industry workplace.”

Our Managing Director, Brett Jacobson, has led the way on congratulating Hannah. He commented: “I speak on behalf of the whole business when I say how proud but not surprised we are to see Hannah leading the way for young female talent in the industry and as the only nominee from the North East we hope her nomination will draw attention to the great things happening in the region.”

The winner of the first-ever Women In Search poll will be announced during The Drum Search Awards in June. There could be more celebrations to come for Hannah, her team and our company later this month too, as our work with Newcastle College has also seen us nominated for Best Local Campaign at the European Search Awards 2015.
