Butternut Box is the United Kingdom’s home for fresh dog food delivery, producing healthy, freshly prepared, personalised meals that use human-grade ingredients and are delivered directly to your door. In an extremely competitive marketplace, Butternut Box partnered with Mediaworks to help increase brand awareness and dominate search visibility for pet nutrition and its associated health concerns.

Mediaworks started by deploying a data-led search strategy, analysing and targeting the trends and searches queries identified through buying personas of Butternut Box’s customers. We worked closely with the Butternut Box team to create a quarterly content strategy, producing regular and engaging content, sharing insightful data with journalists, and creating opportunities to comment on breaking news stories to generate regular coverage across national media outlets including the Sun and ITV News.

We built brand awareness and increased the authority of online assets through linked national coverage. We analysed customer types and optimised content towards informational search terms. This placed Butternut Box in front of customers who were researching more about the health concerns they had for their pets, increasing traffic to health concern pages by 461%. In addition, we were able to increase visibility for transactional searches nearer the end of the buying journey to increase transactions by 159%. We did this by uncovering the types of content that helped accelerate enquiries from the most profitable customer types, thereby increasing revenue growth by 195%.
