Mediaworks supports local school students through Business in the Community initiative

As a proud North East digital agency, Mediaworks welcomes opportunities to support the local community. From our free-to-view webinars to breakfast seminars and charity efforts, this month we’re turning our attention to supporting the region’s rising stars.

Over January, February and March, we’ll be taking part in a number of careers-related events taking place in the region’s secondary schools. We have already attended the event at Excelsior Academy, with Gosforth Academy next on our agenda.

During the event, students will be given the opportunity to speak directly to key personnel from businesses to support their future career decisions and better prepare them for the world of work.

Each session included within each event is designed to develop specific skills. They range from Careers Speed Dating, where students are given the opportunity to ask the volunteers from each business about their career and how they got where they are, to practice interviews and CV writing.

Overall, the events are designed to improve schools’ connection with local, influential businesses to equip students with the skills, knowledge and awareness they need to start a successful career.

Our Communications Director Jayne Parsley-Walsh and Organic Search Director Nicki Pow will be attending the events on behalf of Mediaworks. They will be joined by volunteers from other local businesses, including Reece Group, Intu Metrocentre, Northumbria Water and Virgin Trains.

In addition to our work with the region’s schools this month, we’re also hosting our Digital Transformation Breakfast Seminar in Edinburgh, as well as our free SEO Trends, Data and Best Practice for 2018 webinar. Through these insightful events, we hope to grow the region’s digital knowledge and ultimately strengthen North East businesses.
