Customers are switching more than ever

Statistics show that customer switching is on the increase, and it doesn’t look set to slow down any time soon. In fact, back in March 2018, 660,000 customers switched their energy supplier. By March 2019, however, over 2.5 million customers switched. This number is no longer a rarity either. In fact, experts are suggesting that a monthly average of half a million customers switching is now the norm for the industry.

Given the choice

What is causing this mass-movement of energy customers? Well, there’s the simple element of increasing choice that makes switching so tempting for customers. In 2015, UK customers had to pick between 29 energy suppliers. Fast forward to today and consumers have a list of 73 active suppliers to compare various tariffs and deals with.

With that in mind, it’s more important than ever for energy companies to stand out from the crowd. And with more customers heading online to manage their energy accounts, it makes sense for energy brands to be SEO-conscious.
